Damon Mimari, MD, FACS

Dr. Damon Mimari was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Dr. George Mimari, attending the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he earned his medical degree. He then completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Upon completing his residency in 2009, Dr. Mimari joined his father’s practice. In 2011, the two merged their practice with The START Center for Cancer Care, where Dr. Mimari treats patients today.

Dr. Mimari has a wide range of surgical interests and is an expert in advanced minimally invasive surgery — particularly the DaVinci Robotic Surgical system. He is a very high-volume robotic surgeon with an annual case volume among the highest globally; in 2017 he performed more DaVinci Single-Site cholecystectomies than anyone worldwide. He also holds among the highest case volumes for robotic hernia repair, has additional training in robotic colon and colorectal surgery, and has a special interest in surgical diseases of the breast.

In his role as Medical Director of Tailored Aesthetics, Dr. Mimari provides physician oversight of clinical protocols, safety standards, and medical decision-making, so that every treatment is delivered with the same care and rigor he brings to the operating room.
